| Ok with my current understanding from reading the "updates" of the changes with fluff for 40k with chaos and marine. I am TRYING to come up with a story arch for my chapter of loyalist marines. I've come up with this for a rough idea. Please don't kill me on a harsh posting of ideas though. Anyway, This chapter that is current titled as the "Star Raiders" was a second founding chapter hidden by the inqusistion under the orders of Inquisitor Logen. For over three thousand years the chapter was unknown to all but a few. (can't remember dates to well. Will fix that later! ) Apon a mission to destory a soccor of chaos who was leading a siege on a planet they were spoted by local guardsmen. The word spread fast of these unknown marines in grey and blackend armour with stars all over. Base out line for the chapter. No home planet. No super space fortress. Just a fleet of marines up to 8 battle barges with support ships nearing 30. Chapter Master has been killed by a orc invasion. Most of first company was destoryed when not being able to get out of a chaos ship in time as it went boom. (lame text I know just base outline. =p) tenth company is used up to fill in men for the remaining companys of two to nine. That is my ideas thus far. Feel free to throw out ideas if ya want.

| Sounds like a great start to some fluff. I'm interested to see how it'll turn out.
I could, if you so desired, try and help you out with some fluff. Give me some information on your play style, favored units, etc. and I'll write up a detailed fluff for your chapter, integrating everything you give me. You could, of course, edit the information all you like to suit your needs and likes, but it would help you get going.
If you don't want that much help, then here are a few pointers:-Integrate your play-style. Nothing makes a more complete fluff story than an army on the tabletop that fits along with it. -Start simple. You don't need an entire Codex-worthy background immediately. Take your time, and come up with something that your really like. -Grab inspirations. My Imperial Guard are equivalents of modern day Marines, and I get a lot of my fluff from that. Additionally, I've given my planet an Irish theme to it, for names and such. Having a theme or something to build your army to is a great help. Other than that, all I can say is don't make your fluff too cheesy.
Hope I helped, and get back to me if you want a fluff-write for your chapter.

| Well sir this is paint project I will not be playing them it's for a book you see! Basiclly a online project that anyone is willing to get there hands into. So feel free, The companys that are open is here: first company is dead, second is taken by Tom, third is mine, forth is open, fifth is open, sixth is open, seventh is open, eighth is open, ninth is open, and tenth is dead due to the need of using all the neophytes to fill in the other companys, The base idea is this: Chapter master (unknown name..) died durning a hold off of a siege on a planet with four squads of first company, so that all the marines of the chapter pull out so that they would beable to purge the planet with the "holy fire" if I'm thinking that's what the marines call it. The remaining living of first company returned to the ship. However the reninages of chaos invaded the ship of first, and third company. In the end one of the ships called "The Crimson Striker" was destoryed from a melta charges going off on the reactor of the ship. Most of first company were not able to be so luck as third. What was left of first went into the other companys to aid them out and act as commanders to the troops. This is a fleet style chapter I am going with. Any thing you wish to add in feel free and make up a few heros, I have mine named I will post details in them as I can later on. -Sigose |

| You know what. It is damn late (Pardon the French). Sorry if there are some typos, I'm a little tired.
Alright, so I read your post, and I couldn't help but stay up and write up some appropriately epic fluff for the chapter.
Please, feel free to edit or change anything at all that you do not like. I'll be adding some more fluff to this soon (provided you like the direction I'm taking this), but you've got to tell me what the dealio is with your Marines. The Forgotten SonsName: The Forgotten Sons [Formerly the Sons of Herodus] Designation: Adeptus Astartes [Codex: Space Marines] Homeworld: Name: Herodus IV [Dead World] Classification: Paradise World [237.M39], Dead World [Exterminatus, Inquisitor Hecktus 452.M41] Statistics: Population – 0; Main Exports – N/A; Main Imports – N/A Background: From the time of its discovery in 237.M39 to the time of its demise in 452.M41, Herodus IV was a paradise world. While many other planets of the Imperium hosted foul killing beasts, deathly toxic clouds of pollution, or harbored barbaric warrior societies, Herodus IV thrived as a world of Luxury and Riches. Primarily inhabited by wealthy traders or Subsector politicians, Herodus had a more-than-modest trade spanning the breadth of the sub-sector. After a time, Imperial Census reports indicated that, either due to some natural fluke or as a result of the ideal conditions of Herodus, a particularly high percentage of its inhabitants were eligible for indoctrination into the Adeptus Astartes. During the 21st Founding on 001.M40, the Space Marine chapter Sons of Herodus was born. The planet enjoyed relative stability until some time around the year 440.M41, when the seed of Chaos sprouted in an unknown location on the planet. Over time, it grew to an uncontrollable level, beckoning the forces of the Ordo Hereticus. The Inquisitor tasked with destroying the Herodus Heresy and restoring peace to the Planet was one Marjan Hecktus. Feeling that they would fight with the most fervor, he called upon the Sons of Herodus to meet the call to arms in the effort to liberate the planet. Despite the best efforts of the Imperial Guard and the Sons, Herodus was completely overcome by the Chaos forces who were alleged to have a foul portal of Chaos hidden in some dark corner of the planet. On the 366th day of the year 452.M41, Inquisitor Hecktus authorized Exterminatus on the planet, rendering it a desolate pit of death and nothingness for the rest of Imperial History. Renaming and the Goliath Sub-Sector Campaign:Their world destroyed and abandoned, their warriors cast into shame and despair, never to birth another Space Marine of Herodian descent, the Sons of Herodus renamed themselves the Forgotten Sons. Almost immediately, on the dawn of 454.M41, the reborn Forgotten Sons were called into the Sub-Sector War on the North edge of the Eastern Fringe. Due to a happenstance duel assault by Ork and Chaos forces, considerable resources were called into the ongoing sector-wide fighting. After years of fighting, and the utterly ignorant actions of the Imperial Commanders there, the Goliath Sub-Sector was cut off from the rest of the Imperium by an immense Warp Storm. Imperial losses in the first few years were heavy, as the aggressive, belligerent forces of both the Orks and Chaos blasted huge swathes of Imperial Forces from existence on a number of desperate, ultimately futile defenses. One such defense was of the Fortress World Rhetric VI. There, a very-few handful of Space Marines of First Company and the Grand-Master of the Forgotten Sons, Roric Basseriá held, nigh single-handedly, the central Fortress keep of one of the massive defensive hive towers, Coming to a cataclysmic end with the Chaos Space Marine Lord Eylhein Verasius. In the open air of the utterly destroyed central keep, pounded by days of artillery barrage, the two faced off, and Basseriá took a mortal wound at Verasius’ hand. With one mighty final swing of the battle, even wounded as he was, the Grand-Master cleaved off Verasius's head, and held it aloft with a bloodied hand into the air. Wounded to the point of death, the Marines led a final charge, as one final, spiteful act against Chaos. With only a few Marines remaining, the Forgotten Sons killed Chaos tenfold the numbers they had. No Imperial soul ever heard of the valiant last charge of Grand-Master Basseriá and his 1st Company Marines. On an opposite Fortress Hive-Spire, the remaining Marines deployed on the planet (Those of 1st and 3rd Companies), after losing all communications with Basseriá, were forced to pull back to the awaiting ships in Low-Orbit. After a devastating Chaos sneak-attack, with an entire attack fleet hiding in the planetary shadow of Rhetric VI, all of the remaining 1st Company Marines were destroyed when their Ship, The Crimson Striker, lead a full ramming charge into the Chaos flag-ship. Brutal close-quarters fighting ensued, and death tolls for both sides numbered incredibly high. Finally, after a suicidal attack by Chaos forces on the Marine engine room, melta-charges placed by Chaos Engineers blew both ships apart in a fiery display of Plasma-Radiation and flaming shrapnel. The Chaos Attack-Fleet was crippled beyond repair in the process. Because of the sacrificial charge of the 1st Company's ship, 3rd Company was able to escape unharmed.
Alright, that is it so far. I figured I'd help you get going, seeing as how I have a love affair with 40k fluff. Again, feel free to edit anything you like. I'm not sure if I got the details right, and if you want me to re-write anything, let me know.
I'm not sure what you mean by, "Pick a Company".
Get back to me,

| Alright, glad to hear you liked it! I've now integrated more of the original fluff that you gave. The story develops and continues! Exile and Redemption, the Star RaidersLearning of the Death of their Grand-Master, and already morally wounded by the loss of their planet, the Forgotten Sons, even in the midst of their campaign, withdrew themselves from all combat. With their honor and sense of duty stripped from them, their chapter leaderless and dwindling in number, the Forgotten Sons felt that there was no need for their assistance any longer. Indeed, most felt that they could lend no help to any Imperial Forces when they could do nothing to keep their own Grand-Master alive. Without their help, the Goliath Sub-Sector began to fall into decay. Now with a dramatically lower number of Space Marines in the fight, the dwindling elements of Imperial Guard and a Company of Blood Ravens Space Marines fought a desperate defensive war. Their only hopes were shifted to keeping their forces alive long enough to weather the Warp-Storm and call for reinforcement at the first possible chance. Still drawn by a sense of duty to the Imperium and willing to sacrifice some of their honor for the betterment of it, the Forgotten Sons drew together and prepared to help defend the Sub-Sector once again. However the Forgotten Sons were determined not to lose great amounts of their number, and so changed their doctrine to use lighting fast assault raids following brutally fast and devastating orbital bombardments. Their Chapter moved as one, their home-world now made a cluster of Battle-Barges. They intercepted radio traffic and quickly made their way to the aid of the Imperials who were being outnumbered or on the verge of death on Planets neck-deep in war. With the might of an entire Space Marine fleet and with their entire chapter storming down and utterly obliterating all enemy forces, it appeared to the Imperial Guard and even to fellow marines that they were being saved by the Fateful Will of the Emperor himself. To the other Imperial forces, who believed that the Forgotten Sons had defected to Chaos long ago, didn’t know that the vindictive hand that saved them was the that of the Sons, disguised and menacing in unfamiliar armor. The Forgotten Sons had re-painted all of their armor and vehicles to a deep, shifting metallic gray cut in with ghostly black. Silver, stylized stars adorned their armor, replacing the old Forgotten Sons livery. Wherever they went, Imperial Forces began to fight on with increased vigor, their saviors emerging from the stars and striking down their foes before fading back into the blackness of space once more. One regiment of Imperial Guard, after fighting alongside the unknown Sons, called them the Star Raiders, in light of their tactics. The name stuck, and soon word spread across the Sub-Sector about these Raiders of the Stars. Their reputation grew, and though they were not known and could never be appreciated by those that they saved, the Star Raiders became the legendary heroes of the Goliath Sub-Sector War. Breaking into the dawn of the new Millennium, the shadowy Star Raiders lead Imperial forces through the darkness, fighting the desperate fight to keep Goliath alive. Let me know what you think,

| This I just wrote real fast to give it a shot.. I havn't wrote up fluff in awhile.. Leading the charge,On the planet Mortarion VII a distress call was sent out of a over welming amount of chaos over swept the world. The Inqusistion sent a reply stating there forces would be there in a weeks time. The Forgoten Sons intercepting the comunication sends out a call to the planet. "This is Grimstoff Chaplin of the Star Raiders chapter.. We shall be there in a days time and aid you. I have faith you can survive untill then." a surving chaplin of second company wielding a thunderhammer and a book at his side sighs and sending out a call to all ships to make there way to the planet Mortarion VII. "Iskar come in," the chaplin sends a call on his vox to the third company captain. "Come in brother I can hear you loud and clear.." Iskar replys. "We are making our way to Mortarion VII I want you to lead the charge in and destory this chaos." Grimstoff said with a deepend voice. "It shall be done brother, pray for the safity of us all as you always do." Iskar said with confidence in his voice he turned to his body guard squad. "Brothers!" he said in a angered voice. "We are to lead a charge onto the planet Mortarion VII! I need your aid my brothers.. Each of us will have an imporent job to handle. We are to destory this chaos that has come onto the planet and we shall do so with out mercy nor guilt that they were once just human.. Brother Jarkard.. Go prepare your las-cannon.. and bring your bolter. We will be needing it once we hunt down the source of this evil.." Jarkard turns to Iskar and says, "Right away Brother Captain!" "Tomorrow if we destory this source we slowly redeem our selfs.. And our commander.." |
