Lord of the Rings Strategy battle game (warhammer)

Hi guys!

I'm aware that there are very few Lord of the Rings warhammer players here but I hope to still talk to you guy's about it. I've been collecting it and gaming with it for about 8 years now so I am reasonably experienced with it.

If you have any questions or comments about it I'm here to assist. I'd love to have a deep discussion about it. If you collect the Lord of the Rings figures too then I'd like to maybe start a small communty.

hmmmm i've always wondered what it's like to play it. is it more like following what happened in the books or more like hey lets duke it out like in warhammer or 40K? or is that what's happening in that new expansion?

Well, Its rules are different to 40k. The soldiers don't travel in squads. Its mainly themed around the movies and parts of the books and story's of middle earth. The game revolves alot around the hero's with the normal soldiers there for support, but not so much for it to turn into a role playing game. As I said before its different from 40k and also Fantasy, but the new expansion called War of the Ring is for massive battles and uses the regiment and formation idea found in Fantasy Warhammer. It's effectively for playing Big games with heaps of models that won't take too long to play.

well i have just got into it and ive started collecting dwarves and have rangers warriors durin mardin and a vaultwarden and command dudes, i jus got my rulebook

Once you've painted them up and understand the rules, then start playing some games. You could do them at your local gamesworkshop. It's always good to find someone to play with. Like I guess you could find out when any Lord of the rings gaming nights are at your Local gamesworkshop.

you might eventualy start to get an evil army. Then you could play by yourself at times or play with a friend.

With your dwarf army, I presume you'll be building it up larger over time. It might be good to get some iron guard or Khazard guard. Both can be found here.

They are elite dwarves. They are always usefull to have on the battle field

cheers alot samoht u no ur stuff.....yer like the sound of the iron and khazad guard im mainly started at first for painting purposes...i chose dwarves but i want to get in gamin

my gamesworkshop would be a good place they do quite a bit and the guys there are always willin to play

I haven't played beyond the original release....
But I found it an easy game....
Not the most ballanced system( Try killing all those Hero's)
But quick easy fun..
There is no support for it at my local hobby shop...
But I can't help buy some of the cool-just-to -paint models:)

Stumpythumper, I know what you mean. Those hero's do need a beating before you can kill them...and yeah, some of the models are really cool and just look fantastic when painted.

i bought a set of easterlings and kaladur no thats not it......ummmmm they look kinda like em they remind me of mongolian raiders. they were released at the same time. but anyway i bought one of everything they made cause i loved the easterlings their suits are killer, but anyway i bought em and never did anything with em i dont know ANYONE that plays so they sit and collect dust.

This got me back into the Hobby (Started 40k when I was 9 and quit) when I was around 11 or whenever Fellowship magazine came out. Can you still have a mixed army of anything Good or anything Bad like the old days?

Yeah of course you can.

And Bootlegtatoo, I think they are called Khandish warriors or warriors of khan or something like that.

And guy's, I'm surprised that there isn't a forum for Lord of the rings warhammer like there is for 40K or Fantasy. Like not even a small forum. Do you think the admin will let us have one?
