PostSubject: Blue max Invite on Vassal   Thu Jan 22, 2009 4:04 pm

Hey Guys
I would like to ask if anyone would like to play a larger game of “Blue Max” on the Vassal Game engine? I’m relatively new at it and so are some of the members Wartube forum that I’ve played with. I’ve actually only played it 3 times and I’ve had my perverbial butt handed to me on a plate be Neuicon twice! Which I’m sure he won’t let me live down and he will remind any and everyone who decides to play that I got smoked by a “newbie”….. twice!
It’s a fun game and rather easy to learn, there is a bit of a learning curve but for the most part the game is a combination of luck and strategy.
As I said, the game would be played on Vassal (which you would have to install), and you would have to download the Blue Max Module. If you have any trouble with this I can help. I would like to get 6-8 players (3- 4 per team) I’ll be the mod (not nessesary, but it helps keep the game organized)
If your interested let me know, and if you do play --- watch out for Neuicon and his Sopwith Snipe
Below is a bit about the game courtasy of Wikipia
Blue Max
A multi-player board game of World War I aerial combat over the Western Front during 1917 and 1918. Each player is a fighter pilot of the British, French, American, or German air service. Each game is a single dogfight, in which players try to shoot down as many enemy planes as possible without being shot down themselves. There is no limit to the number of players in a single game. It was first published by Game Designers Workshop (GDW), in 1983. The game is named after the prestigious German order Pour le Mérite, informally known as Blue Max.
In this game, you are a pilot of World War I, fighting over France in the 1917 and 1918 years. Using your airplane you must try to shoot down as many enemy planes as possible without being shot down. The game is played on an hexagonal board, using a maneuver chart from which, every turn, you decide which move your plane will do. After every player have decided their move, all the planes are moved simultaneously on the map. You can fire at another plane only if it is directly in front of your plane and at a maximum distance of 3 hexes.
The rules are simple and most of the them are contained in the components used during play and reference to the rule manual is rarely necessary. After playing some games, you can start use the campaign rules, which add another level of fun to the game.
