ok i went to write up the rambler and found i had already done it a long time ago but just forgot about it..... the messed up thing is i got about half way threw a new one b4 i found the old one....duh.....
ok AMC REBEL write up
outside of the car looks pretty much the same as picture but with metal plates on glass, front plate has 6inch gap at eye height drivers side glass has 2 inch gap at same height others solid sheets. there is a dukes of hazzard push bar on front bumper
engine 409 cui punched out to a 429. it is running dual turbos w/ vapor boosters (** see below)
radiator has been moved to behind driver seat(back side windows have scoops and tubing to provide it with cold air plus two elec fans) engine has 1/2 inch armor plates in front and both sides to protect it from weapons fire. hood scoop has mdc wire mesh to protect weapons fire or other objects from entering it, it has tubing that enters turbo units to provide a ram cold air to engine so the scoops are functional. spark plugs are high power units running two coils for each side (4 coils total) to provide mega sparkage (like that word hehehehe) fuel injectors are high pressure units with special tips to vaporize incoming fuel. there are several tweeks that u and the boy have done to this engine (porting and polishing each and every gap etc etc) this engine has about 50 man hours in special tweeks.
(**** ok vapor boosting **** the turbos take eshaust and rams it back into the intake but this system goes one step further it takes un burned gas vapors and sends it back into the mix so u have unburned gas fumes, cold air from the scoop, fresh fuel all compressed and slammed back into the cylinders. provides about a 50 hp boost plus what the turbos provide. needless to say the engine has to be built to handle these extra pressures (about 15 to 1 comp) then there is a nitro bottle on top for those times a lil more is needed*****
ok lets talk about the fuel for a second. the fuel is crystal........ which is dehydrated..... the gas looks like sand with each grain of sand being a gallon of gas. your actual gas tank looks like a mountain dew bottle (which would actually hold thousands upon thousands of gallons)
the grains of gas enter a converter which takes one grain at a time and converts it back into a fluid gallon which enters a one and a half gallon tank that is connected to the fuel system as normal (fuel lines fuel pump etc etc) this system allows u to hold thousands of gallons at a time with little risk of explosion as most of the fuel is in crystal form which wont burn until converted and there is only 1.5 gallons max at a time. the system is much smaller than a normal tank and can be placed inside the car where it is more protected. not many racers use this type system as it is EXPENSIVE to get the converters (u have one to convert it from wet to dry and three from dry to wet (dry to wet cost about half a mil each and the wet to dry 1.5 mil so ya not cheap at ALL)
ok roll bars have spray nozzels about every 6 inches every other one is foam or fire. fire is like a halon system with tank in trunk the others are for foam system. the foam is pressurized and releases upon wrecking, the foam is released as a liquid that hardens once air hits it. this will provide saftey in a wreck as u cant bounce around and it absorbes the impacts to keep u safe. the system can release in a matter of seconds. there are extra nozzels around the driver to provide extra protection. and the foam will NOT BURN not even under a blow torch. the system isnt mandatory YET..... but soon will be. it can be costly but as u seen already it can save ur life....look at the wreck pic..... w/o that system u would of been dead no ifs ands or butts
ok armor instead of making the whole car a armored tank which would be heavy as hell u go with armored plates here and there (around engine around you etc etc) your drivers seat has 1inch plates on the whole outside of it which covers 90% of u, ur helmet is armored as well so the only things exposed are part of ur legs and ur arms. u have a plate in front of u on the fire wall to protect ur foward areas which the seat cant protect. then plates in the doors and along the trunk wall (where the back seat would be) to protect the radiator and fuel system and extra plates around the fuel. the max weapons are ak47 or m16 (7.62 and 5.56 i think) so no 50 cals and all explosive can not be more powerful than 1/4 stick tnt. they want a good show but dont want u and the tracks destroyed. so u do not need a rolling tank. most drivers go with 1/2 inch plates with one inch around them. you also run 3.4 inch plates along the floor boards just in case most drivers do not do that.
ok weapons front bumpers (next to the orange turn light) u have 4 ak's w/ 1000 rounds each and they can be fired as a group or one at a time (u have a control switch board on dash) the inside head lights or high beams are mini missles w 4 extras each side. the trunk can lift up 9 inches and dual ak's rise up on gun mount that can spray from side to side 5000 rounds each. from under the car u have the classic oil slick w/ 5 shots and a 2 shot greek fire can (think napam will light up and is sticky so will stay on tires until they blow) the greek fire has little metal balls that when crushed will ignite the fire. u also has two shots of caltrops (be careful when using them if u have to come by the area on another lap well think about it......) u also have hub caps with spikes on them that are riged with air so when u throw the switch they shoot off with a good deal of force (1200 psi)
now lets talk about the dash board for a second==== now the origional dash would of been ripped out along with most trim inside to save weight. but u also have many switches and knobs inside to control everything. u also have two monitors with video on it (rear facing and passenger side (about rear qtr panel)) so u can see since u run solid plates. u also have a lap top mounted with a touch screen that can be set up to control other things (get to that in a second) u also have guages to monitor everything (do mean everything) from air pressures (hub caps to tires) oil pressure oil temp etc the list goes on and on. ur dash has more controls than the normal racers (there are a few that run a system like this but most dont) in the passenger seat area u have a cooler than u fill with ice before each race and all lines run threw it (fuel, oil, tranny fluid radiator fluid etc) to help battle heat. (note most of ur lines u run over the drive shaft to provide extra protection (fuel brake fluid etc) they pop out go into the cooler at the passenger seat then back out the the drive shaft hump then to where needed. needless to say when u get a car u strip EVERYTHING off and run it the way u wANT IT TO BE (damn caps) it takes longer to get a car ready but u think it is worth it in the end.
now the lap top is set up diff depending on the race ur running but u do have two set ups that u can run that are total control units. this is a computer unit (controls spark fuel etc etc) and a tranny unit than combined u can run diff at diff time. what i mean by that with this unit and a flip of the switch u can go from drag car to top end car. meaning by flipping a switch u can have bottom end or top end speeds. with the set up u can control toruqe and horse power along with fuel consumption with a flip of switch. example from the starting line u set it from draG MODE then once ur off u switch it to cruise mode and when a long straight away comes up u hit the switch and u have all the top end power u can handle. it is like having 3 to 4 car set ups in one. the lap top will control gearing changes and everything else all change able at a fingers touch. u can also put suspension systems on this as well (like mercedes and jag have) u need a hard stiff susp the air bags fill up and bam stiff susp u need it soft they release the air and spongy system. now u dont run this in all races but if u have a long raod race that the conditions change allot boom install the system and with a finger touch u can change to meet the upcoming conditions. having your car set up with a laptop in it gives u the ability to change how the car runs and ur able to change it as needed. so if conditions change overnight at a track u can change the program and be set for prime conditions with a flip of a switch. ur dash is sheet metal, gauges and stitches then ur monitors and laptop sit on the tranny hump so u have controls all around you.
ok that was the write up i posted a long time ago and forgot about......duh now i know why they call it dope hehehehehe
ok the boy pulls the car out for you and puts it behind the screen set up so the comp cant see what u guys are doing and fires it up. as soon as the eng fires up ur heart does a double beat as it is music to ur ears. the thing sounds like it could eat a tank for lunch ammo and all. he hooks up the lap top and checks everything out then shuts it down climbs out and says it is running great it is ready to roll.......
