now everyone says that it is sooooooo much harder and fantasy players look down on us 40k-ers because of it. now yes the play is diff and there is a lil more to it but i dont see it as that much harder. maybe it is just me but what do u think

dont know chef i guess since it is supp to be harder they think they are smarter "any dummy can play 40k but u gotta be smart to play fantasy" u hear that kinda stupid stuff. i dont see it both have their points but.....

I mean it seems like the rules of fantasy are way more coomplicated. but there is no real strategy. you run up and hit eachother with swords. woop dee doo, 40k seems to be more tactical and requires a bit more thinking. but that might be me being biased. But i don't look down on them for playing it. Besides 40k fluff is better Smile

Right here we go, Fantasy has a lot more rules to the game, So yes its harder to learn then 40k, All aspects like Moving, Magic, Shooting and Close combat are more in depth then 40k,

About Fantasy players looking down on 40k players?...Well yes it happens and vice versa, People will get defensive of ones hobby, You have to understand that 40k players in general are youngers then fantasy players, Its more of age thing then anything,

About tactics, Yes!, Fantasy requires you to use your brain a lot more, Making the right army to counter another army is crucial, Also moving can and usually does win you this game, Know when to move, When to charge and what with, There are so many aspects of the game i could go into, But overall.....Yes Fantasy is harder then 40k

agree 100% with WWH. WFB seems more like the "grown up" game that gw produces. It does require more tactical thinking than 40k ( at least it used to, I havn't played WFB in 8-9 years and have no idea what the rules look like now days) It also generally involves painting and buying a lot more models than the average 40k army.

hmm all this talk makes me want to get back into WFB. Shocked

I do have to disagree with you there, Fantasy is much more tactical, a good example is a story I heard about; a army list that won a GW Grand Tourment (I think this was the biggest one) was made by another person, exaxtly the same right down to the last point. Well he joined the Grand Tourment the next year, he had played fantasy for many years and even that army ( just not that list ) when he played the orginal list he got smashed and then he got beatin in just about all of the games he played in after that. So what I'm trying to say is that you can't take winning list a hope to do good with it on your own if you havent use it, but I have seen many many people take good 40K lists and use them with good results; and I think this because that 40K is a less tactical game that is more based on either quailty of the uint or quantity of the uint, but fantsy dose a good job of mixing these two together so that you have to make a choice in the two to try and make a good list.

I play both frequently, I wouldn`t say fantasy is harder than 40k, but it certainly is more in depth. there are a few minor things like flanking and such that make strategic advantages a little bit more key, but 40k, because of its simpler nature can actually cause some more strategic situations. In 40k, there aren`t as many ways out of bad situations if you know what I mean.
anyways, thast my opinion. Oh, and I played fantasy long before 40k and I never looked down on anyone. if your cool enough to play warhammer of any kind in the first place your cool with me. now that I play both I see how some people joke about it, but I think for hte most part its because they both wish the other person played both. Warhammer in general is great and if your like me you wanna get in as many games of whatever VS whatever as possible.
