Alright, homies... I have a real big problem; and this should lead to some very interesting conversation. I have chosen to get out of the hobby, because I never enjoyed painting miniatures and was never really into the hobby itself, but then again, I love the 40K Universe and the rules of the game, so I do in fact like to play the game. Recently, however, I have been fighting my brain and heart as to what to do, especially now that I have little time for myself with everything I am doing in my life. So, I keep telling myself, that I would like to get some games in, but would not like to paint the models, because I, personally, like to rip the box open, grab the minis already painted and play the game (I am all about simply playing the game, which is why I mainly play games like Star Wars Minis, D&D Minis, Confrontation and so on). I had a game a few nights ago that lasted about an hour, and the guy, throughout the entire game was bitching and complaining about the fact that the army I brought with me, was totally unpainted. This being my Khorne Army; this guy would not shut the hell up and it seriously bothered me to the point where I told him that if he did not just play the game, then I would leave and that he was starting to be a douchebag. Alright, this guy was an asshole; I am not going to take that back, because some of the shit he said was just straight up disrespectful. I did not tell him about the shit I have going on in my life, but he was trying to say that there was NO excuse for not painting your minis, no matter what is going on. He also said that I should've not played at all; here's what I think about this... ...some people like to paint more than play, and some people like to play more than paint (me being one of them). Why the need for the doucheness? People can't simply learn to respect others who have lives of their own and just try to make time to get a game in once in a while. I personally will not paint minis anymore, but also don't really wanna give up 40K, so I WILL play with unpainted models, and could care less if people like it or not. If someone wants to be a dick and not play because I simply have no love of the "hobby" and simply have no time to paint, then I'll just find another opponent. So, what do you guys think? Do you prefer to play against painted or unpainted armies? Or simply play to play the game and paint to keep up your hobby? I personally don't care who I play against and how his/her models look; this is because I just play the game to PLAY THE GAME. Thanks guys, this should be interesting to keep up with.

| if that guy cares so much he shouldnt be fucking playing at a hobby store wehre of course at least 1 person will come with an unpainted army i enjoy painting but only about 20 percent of may army is painted ATM it your choice how or if you paint your army and other ppl should respect that, some ppl enjoy just the game(like you) some ppl just enjoy painting, and of course alot of ppl do both, but all in all its your choice at the rate i paint it will be a ong time untill my army is done but i will still go play the game no matter what assholes like that say maybe if he bothers me too much ill see how fire resistant his painted army is hehehe _________________ [9:58:28 PM] solidsmurf: its GAY, like comissar butt secks gay i took anger managment, but it just pissed me off

look i love to play with and against painted armies...it just looks better. now with that said i have played games with a salt shaker being used in place of a model that i havnt bought yet..... for one i want to see what it can do b4 i spend 50 bucks to put it in my army.... two IT IS JUST A FRAKIN GAME!!!!!!!!!! i would of busted that guy in his mouth and while he was laying there holding his face together and bleeding on the floor told him all the shit that was going on in ur life at this point and how u didnt need some snobish mofo raining on ur small piece of rest and relaxation b4 u have to go back to the hospital (throw in the hospt bit just to make it sound even worse than it is and make him feel super bad) now the whole time ur un-loading on him about how fucked life is be packing up ur army just in case the store called jhonny law..... and as u walk out spit on him and tell him next time look at what is important in life b4 u open ur fraking mouth...... now if done right the whole store will cheer u on cause they prob have been wanting to bust him in the chops as well for years now and just havnt...... cause i'm sure if he went off on u like that he has done it to others.... cause at my game store 90% of it is unpainted or if it is painted it looks like crap so they have all prob taken a verbal beating from him so now that u snapped on him they will feel better cause someone finally done what they have only dreamed of doing... see u can get in a game, release some stress and be a few geeks heros all in one trip to ur local flgs

Well, shame on me, i still not played it yet. When the opponents & your own army is painted it just looks better. If they're not painted, no prob. Till now i played Heroquest with unpaited figs. The main thing is to play the game. When the figs are painted or not it shouldnt matter. Like i said before, it just looks better.

Thanks guys, so far! Here is what I think about the whole "Looks Better" thing; they're plastic, and most of the time, used on a tabletop with cheap felt as terrain or little Christmas trees as decorations, so all I really think of is the game itself. THAT is where the action is, not in the painting. Dale, that was incredible! LOL! You made my fucking day, and to be honest, I would have, but I simply chose to be the better man. But the whole Geek's Hero thing reminded me of the time I was hanging out at a GW and some little punk wannabes walked by and shouted, "Fucking NERDS!" I walked outside and shouted, "Hey! Come here you fucking assholes! What the fuck did you call me, eh? Do you wanna get your fucking ass kicked by a nerd!?" They were like, "Um, no, no." LOL! Some little kid walked up to me and was like, "You're cool!" LOL! That was great... I know that 40K is NOT just a hobby, it's ALSO a game. I like the GAME. Always have, always will. I have always complained to myself about painting, because I just don't like doing it. And I never finish an army I start (then again, who does?). I knew a guy who was into Fantasy and was trying to finish his army, and in the four years he spent painting ONE army, he NEVER played the game, because he wanted his entire army painted. WTF!? Thanks, guys. Any more thoughts would be awesome.

I don't care if an army is painted or not, but if it is thats nice too. I don't really see why people really care, not everybody has that kinda of time or even the paticence. If people do complain I just tell them I havent had time or that I just haven't been in a painting mood for awhile. P.S. I haven't seen you on skype in awhile! If you get on send me a PM because I'll probly be invisible.

I got into skirmish/war gaming originally for the gaming aspect... and had no-one to play against. Being the artistic sort that I am, I've become a bit of a solo gamer. I build all of my terrain, paint as much of my lead mountain as I can (Well.. only 3 pieces of lead left. Maybe 2 dozen plastics.. man, I need more duders..), and find the most interesting things to do with said pieces. On one hand, painting isn't everyone's cup of tea. I personally love it, and the challenge it entails.. the hand-steadying excersizes are pretty helpful too, seeing as I'm probably apprenticing as a tattoo artist for me mum after college. On the other hand, having two decently painted groups going against each other on standard boards looks good. A better board? Even better. Awesome figures along with a great board? Really aids in the 'suspension of disbelief' that's so important to narrative skirmish/rpg gaming. Really, it's up to the individual in the end.

Since i wasn't here for this i'll throw in my 2 cents. I have a 1/2 unpainted army. The part that is painted is pretty decent. I'll paint when I want to and fight when I want to. sure it's nice to look at a painted army but who the hell cares. It's a game. The paint is just to look better. The rules are where it is at. I could care less about if you paint or not. just play the game. no reason to be a douche about it.
